Proposal sought for worker protection from ionizing radiation risks via Commission-submitted directive
In a series of incidents over the weekend, several accidents occurred in the region of Baden-Württemberg due to drivers operating vehicles under the influence of intoxicants.
On Saturday afternoon, a 34-year-old was found driving a wheel loader under the influence of substances and without a valid driver's license on the district road 2330, heading towards Pfahlbach. The vehicles involved in the collision had to be towed away, and the Iveco overtook the Mercedes in a right curve, merging back in front of a traffic island, causing the accident. Fortunately, neither of the drivers was injured. However, the 34-year-old had to accompany the officers to a hospital for a blood test, and several charges are now pending against him. Preliminary tests revealed the presence of THC and cocaine in his system.
On Friday evening, another accident occurred in Zweiflingen, involving an estimated damage of around 9,000 euros. The police have not released the name of the 27-year-old Iveco driver, who was found to be under the influence of drugs during the investigation.
On Sunday afternoon, an accident with damage estimated in the five-digit range occurred on the federal road B19 near Heilbronn. The accident involved a Mercedes and an Iveco, and both drivers' airbags were deployed. Despite the severity of the collision, no one was injured. The Iveco driver had to accompany the officers to a hospital for a blood test, but the results are yet to be disclosed.
In a separate incident on Friday afternoon, an accident occurred at the intersection with the state road 1036 in Zweiflingen, resulting in an estimated damage of around 30,000 euros. The accident involved a VW vehicle driven by a 29-year-old and a VW Touareg driven by a 68-year-old. The details of the 29-year-old's intoxication are not known at this time.
The police in Heilbronn urge drivers to refrain from operating vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They can be contacted at [email protected] or at www.polizei-bw.de for any queries or concerns.
