Protesting crowd of about 80 individuals in Höhscheid vocally oppose the proposed refugee housing facility
In the heart of Solingen, a city known for its steel industry, a peaceful demonstration took place on October 9th. The protest, titled "Against the construction of a refugee shelter in Solingen Höhscheid", was organised by a private individual and attracted around 80 people.
The event, which took place between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM on Neuekamper Street in Höhscheid, passed without any incidents. According to a police spokesperson, Andreas Reuter, there were no issues to report from a police perspective, and no traffic disruptions were reported during the demonstration.
Notably, there was no counter-protest reported, and the demonstration remained peaceful throughout its duration.
The current mayor of Solingen, Tim Kurzbach, has publicly addressed the city in events such as the commemoration of attacks, emphasizing solidarity. However, there is no specific information confirming that he has held an official meeting with protesters regarding the planned refugee accommodation.
