Protests Led by Grandmothers Confront Conservative Groups in Dusseldorf Prior to Bundestag Elections
In the heart of Germany, a group of passionate individuals is gearing up for a demonstration against the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. The group, known as Grandmas Against the Right, is one of the best-known and largest initiatives for democracy in the country.
On Saturday, 15th February, at 12 pm, they will gather in front of the DGB House on Friedrich-Ebert-StraΓe, ready to march towards Corneliusplatz. The demonstration is open to all, with a particular emphasis on families, who will be able to recognise the protest by the "Grandmas Against the Right" banners.
The rally comes in response to the AfD's planned event on Schadowplatz on the same day. The group organising the demonstration is not explicitly named in search results, but it is confirmed that a demonstration will take place at Schadowplatz against the AfD on that date.
Recent events in Aschaffenburg and Magdeburg have sparked concern, with the parties ready to suspend European law, claiming there is an emergency in Germany. The AfD's statements are becoming increasingly radical, and they are discussing "remigration" for long-term residents of Germany.
Grandmas Against the Right, however, stands firm in their belief in democracy, rule of law, cultural diversity, tolerance, respectful coexistence, and responsible environmental management. They see the danger that democratic achievements and the foundation of societal coexistence could be at risk due to new majorities in the Bundestag.
More and more parties are declaring migration to be the biggest problem in society, a sentiment that Grandmas Against the Right strongly opposes. They urgently appeal to all eligible voters to vote for centrist democratic parties in the upcoming federal election.
The group is currently campaigning across Germany, raising awareness about the importance of democracy. A photo of Grandmas Against the Right raising awareness outside a town hall was recently taken by Christiane May.

It's worth noting that, for the first time, the Christian Democrats, together with the FDP and BSW, made common cause with right-wing extremists in parliament. This demonstration against the AfD and the right-wing trend in society could mark a significant moment in German politics.
Join Grandmas Against the Right in their fight for democracy, tolerance, and a future that values everyone, regardless of their background. Let your voice be heard on 15th February.
