Puerto Rico experiences increased tension as American jets are dispatched following a fly-over by Venezuelan aircraft

In a move that has sparked speculation about President Donald Trump's intentions regarding Venezuela, the United States has deployed stealth fighter jets to the Caribbean. The deployment includes ten Marine Corps F-35s to an airbase in Puerto Rico.

The decision comes after a US strike on a drug-smuggling vessel in the region, which resulted in the death of all 11 people aboard. This action was defended by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Senator Marco Rubio, who warned that more such strikes could follow. Rubio also signaled the Trump administration's willingness to take more aggressive action against Venezuela.

The US government aims to send a clear message to drug traffickers with its actions. The Pentagon has stated that the "cartel" running Venezuela is "strongly advised" not to interfere with any other operations by the US. The US has sent several ships carrying some 4,000 sailors and Marines to the region.

The deployment is in response to two Venezuelan military aircraft flying over an American naval vessel in the Caribbean. The exact details about this incident, such as how close the aircraft got and the vessel's location, were not provided by the Pentagon.

Venezuela's socialist strongman Nicolas Maduro has responded by calling on military reservists and more than 10 million militia members to mobilize. This escalation of tension has prompted concerns about potential conflict between the two nations.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Ecuador on a trip aimed at rallying support for the US pressure campaign on Venezuela. Rubio indicated that the US aims to wage war on drug trafficking groups in Venezuela, as they have been waging war on the US for 30 years and no one has responded.

The US is not acting alone in this deployment. The United States is deploying military forces to combat drug cartels, but no other states' participation or specific additional air vehicles are mentioned in connection with this defense unit against drug smuggling.

As the situation continues to develop, it remains to be seen what further actions the US will take against Venezuela. However, one thing is clear: the US is sending a strong message to drug traffickers and any other parties who may interfere with its operations in the region.
