"Q&A Session with the Baden-Württemberg Criminal Police (LKA BW) on May 15, 2023: Speaking for the Voiceless; A Stand Against Hateful Speech and Provocation"

On Monday, May 15, 2023, at 7:00 PM, a live Q&A event will take place on the Police BW's Instagram channel. This event is organised by the State Criminal Investigation Office Baden-Württemberg (LKA BW) as part of their efforts to combat hate and incitement on the internet.

The Q&A will feature Dr. Michael Blume, the government commissioner against antisemitism, and Nadine Berneis, an influencer and Miss Germany 2019. Bettina Rommelfanger, the head of the Task Force against Hate and Incitement at the LKA BW, will also be participating.

The Task Force is addressing the issue of digital hate, where victims often retreat into silence due to fear of further hate comments. Both Dr. Michael Blume and Nadine Berneis have been affected by hate online due to their personal attributes and group affiliations. Dr. Blume emphasises the importance of speaking out against hate and incitement, stating that silence only strengthens it.

During the live Q&A, the participants will share their experiences of dealing with online hate and different ways they have dealt with it. They will also discuss innovative approaches taken by the LKA BW and its civil society partners to combat hate on the internet.

Many young people prefer not to express opinions online to avoid potential backlash. This Q&A is open to the public and encourages active participation in the discussion about combating hate and incitement on the internet.

The Q&A is part of a campaign for a culture where law and human dignity apply again, as stated by Dr. Michael Blume. The LKA BW has previously produced an award-winning video clip series titled 'Louder! Stronger! #activeagainsthateandincitement'.

The Q&A will be broadcast on the Instagram channels of the Police BW and the government commissioner against antisemitism. You can access the Police BW's Instagram channel at https://t1p.de/ltjv6.
