Race concludes with a finish at the back
In an early morning incident on Jöllenbecker Straße near Straße Im Langen Siek, a Volkswagen T-Cross was pulled over by police at around 3:50 AM. However, the driver initially stopped before attempting to flee towards Spenge.
The ensuing police pursuit saw speeds exceeding 120 km/h, with the Bielefeld Police Department and the Detmold Police Department involved in the chase. The incident ended tragically when the VW lost control at the intersection of Hamfeldstraße and Bussche-Münch-Straße, ending up in a hedge.
Upon arrival at the police station, a doctor took blood samples from the 39-year-old driver from Spenge, who was arrested at the scene. Alcohol and drug tests conducted at the scene were positive.
Proceedings have been initiated for participating in an unauthorized motor vehicle race, endangering traffic safety due to driving under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating substances. The VW was seized on order of the public prosecutor's office.

Police from Herford assisted with the accident investigation. The driver disregarded traffic rules on Mühlenburger Straße and Hamfeldstraße, using the wrong side of the road during turns.
