Rail station altercation in local transit area

In an unusual incident, a physical altercation took place on a regional train between Mannheim Central Station and Mannheim-Waldhof on the evening of September 4th.

At approximately 21:30, a 49-year-old man was involved in an altercation with an unknown suspect. The altercation occurred during an audible musical performance on the train, with the suspect reportedly punching the 49-year-old man.

The incident took place onboard the RE 70 train. After the altercation, the suspect left the train and the station at Mannheim-Waldhof, leaving the victim behind. The victim was later found at the Mannheim-Waldhof station.

Despite a search in the area, the suspect remains unidentified. Police have identified the suspect through video footage from Mannheim Central Station. The suspect is described as a man between 30 and 35 years old, wearing a light checkered shirt and light jeans, carrying black headphones, and riding a black bicycle.

The investigation into the altercation on RE 70 is currently being conducted by federal police in Karlsruhe. Anyone with further information about the incident is urged to contact the federal police at 0721 120 160.

As of the current investigation, the suspect has not been found. The safety and well-being of passengers on regional trains remain a priority for authorities, and they encourage anyone witnessing suspicious behaviour to report it immediately.
