In an effort to improve the cycling experience for local residents and visitors alike, the city of Wuppertal has announced the installation of new temporary toilets along the North Rhine-Westphalia cycle path. The decision to place these facilities at strategic locations was made based on various factors, including the experiences of local residents with wild urination spots and the aim to provide wide coverage along the route.

The new toilets will be found at bus stops, ensuring easy accessibility for users of the cycle path. This decision was made to cater to the needs of both cyclists and bus passengers, as the facilities will be available to all path users.

The city's project manager, Jana Verhuelsdonk, is overseeing the implementation of an overall concept for public toilets, including the recent relocation of the toilets on the North Rhine-Westphalia cycle path. The temporary toilets that were previously in operation during the summer season were dry toilets, and surveys conducted at these facilities were completed over 90 times.

All path users are invited to use and evaluate the new toilets, and to treat them carefully, reporting any vandalism or contamination. Users can participate in a survey about the new offer at formulare.wuppertal.de.

Deputy Mayor Gunnar Ohrndorf thanks all the actors involved in the test project of the temporary toilets on the North Rhine-Westphalia cycle path. A second workshop with district representatives and local businesses is planned to evaluate the test phase and develop recommendations for the toilet concept by the end of the year.

The new locations for the temporary toilets will be revealed in the coming three months. More information about the topic, including the new locations of the temporary toilets, can be found online at www.wuppertal.de/toiletten. General suggestions about toilets can be sent via email at [email protected].

The Wuppertal movement provided support with its knowledge of the route's usage, ensuring that the new toilets will be as accessible as possible to users of the cycle path. The city is committed to making the North Rhine-Westphalia cycle path a more enjoyable and convenient experience for all.
