Rally Finland Victory Secured: A Peek into Toyota's Triumphant Journey

In the heart of July, the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Rally Finland took place from the 31st of July to the 3rd of August. This year's event, held in the city of Jyväskylä, saw a historic victory for the World Rally Team (TGR-WRT).

The rally, known for its high speeds with average speeds reaching 130 km/h, predominantly took place on gravel roads in the forests surrounding Jyväskylä. This year, TGR-WRT made a significant impact, sweeping the top five spots on the leaderboard.

Kalle Rovanperä, a Finnish driver, clinched the victory, marking his first victory on home soil. Close behind was Takamoto Katsuta, a driver who was brought up in the WRC Challenge Program and lived in Jyväskylä, who finished in second place. TGR-WRT's Sébastien Ogier finished third, and Sami Pajari, also representing TGR-WRT, finished fifth.

In a remarkable turn of events, an event showcasing different uses for hydrogen took place during Rally Finland. Juha Kankkunen, a four-time WRC world champion, drove the GR2 Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept, the world's first rally car running on gaseous hydrogen. Grills, stone ovens, and other items were used during the hydrogen event to create more hydrogen fans in Finland.

Kankkunen gave his impressions of the GR2 Yaris Rally2 H2 Concept during Rally Finland. He praised the vehicle for its impressive performance and emphasized the potential of hydrogen technology in rally racing, highlighting its environmental benefits and competitive capabilities.

Takamoto Katsuta also expressed his satisfaction with his result, stating that placing well in Finland was the best feeling both personally and as a driver. Elfyn Evans of TGR-WRT finished fourth, rounding off a successful weekend for the team.

As the dust settles on Rally Finland, the focus now shifts to the next rally event, Rally Japan, scheduled for November 6-9. The behind-the-scenes look at Rally Finland is hoped to generate excitement for Rally Japan, as the world of rally racing continues to push the boundaries of technology and performance.
