Raut labels Modi as a 'political entrepreneur' in his statement.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Sanjay Raut, has raised eyebrows with his recent comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's relationship with political veteran Sharad Pawar. During the inauguration of the 98th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Delhi, PM Modi shared a stage with Sharad Pawar, who is the chairman of the event, and offered him water.
In a series of statements, Raut claimed that the Prime Minister's actions contradict his previous statements about Sharad Pawar and Pawar's nephew, Ajit Pawar. Raut asserted that Modi had previously referred to Sharad Pawar as a "wandering soul" who spoils the good work of others when he cannot achieve success. He also accused Modi of saying that the Pawar family had looted Maharashtra.
Raut expressed surprise that Modi sat next to Sharad Pawar during the event, given their past disagreements. He questioned the nature of Modi's respect for Pawar, implying that it may not be genuine. The audience applauded after Modi served Pawar water during the event.
In a move that has gone viral, Modi was seen helping Pawar to sit in his chair. This act of kindness comes just a few months after Modi referred to Pawar as a "wandering soul" during a Lok Sabha election campaign last year.
Ajit Pawar, who was previously accused of looting Maharashtra, was on the same stage as Modi. Raut stated that Modi dismantled the party that Balasaheb Thackeray built, the Shiv Sena. He also claimed that Pawar is senior to Modi.
Raut accused Modi of turning every small thing into an event. He claimed that the Prime Minister had disrespected the Shiv Sena by dismantling it and now was attempting to gain favour with Sharad Pawar.
The 98th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan is a literary conference aimed at promoting Marathi literature and culture. The event took place in Delhi.
