Real estate company HIH has fully leased Elbspeicher in Hamburg-Altona for commercial purposes
The historic Elbspeicher building in Hamburg-Altona, a blend of Hanseatic building history and modern usage, has been fully let by HIH Invest Real Estate. This strategic success demonstrates the potential of modern property management in existing buildings.
Built in 1873, the Elbspeicher offers around 12,000 square meters of lettable area over ten floors. The prime location of the Elbspeicher, situated directly on the Elbe and near the Hamburg fish market, offers short distances to the city center and HafenCity. The excellent transport links and unique atmosphere of the surrounding area make the Elbspeicher attractive to various user groups.
The main tenant of the Elbspeicher is the GINN Hotel Hamburg Elbspeicher, which will also use the vacant retail space on the ground floor for reception and long-stay apartments. The 6th floor of the Elbspeicher, approximately 1,300 square meters, was quickly re-let to the Reneo Group, a PropTech company with over 100 employees.
HIH Invest has adapted the Elbspeicher to new usage requirements, as demonstrated by the re-letting of the 6th floor. The company has also extended the average lease term at the Elbspeicher from 13 to over 16 years through conversations with tenants and targeted measures.
The completed full letting of the Elbspeicher strengthens the Altona location, contributing to the stabilization of the object and its economic viability. The historical substance of the Elbspeicher is combined with modern requirements, as shown by continuous interior adaptations.
Moreover, the measures taken by HIH Invest are aimed at the long-term development of the district, making the Elbspeicher a defining element of quarter development in western Hamburg. The Elbspeicher remains an important factor in the development of the Altona location.
