In a surprising turn of events, Ivan Uss, the son of the former Belarusian presidential candidate Dmitry Uss, has reportedly joined the Russian army in Ukraine. However, there is no information available about the exact date when he began his military service.

The Ukrainian project "I Want to Live" recently published a list of 596 Belarusian citizens who signed contracts with the Russian army this year and were deployed to the front in Ukraine. Among the names on this list is 29-year-old Ivan Uss.

Dmitry Uss, Ivan's father, was a presidential candidate in Belarus in 2010. He collected 110,000 votes, which accounted for 0.4% of the total votes. However, his campaign was marred by repression, and he was arrested and sentenced to five and a half years in prison. After serving five months, he was pardoned and returned to his printing and cartographic business.

Ivan Uss gained prominence in the mid-2010s as the administrator of the pro-Russian "Anti-Maidan Minsk" group on the social network "VKontakte". He disappeared from public life for some time but re-emerged during the 2020 protests.

There is a video online showing how anarchists and fans of the football club "Partisan" caught Uss and had a "talk" with him. It is unclear what led to this encounter.

On January 17, 2025, Ivan Uss reportedly signed a contract with the Russian army and was given the ID number AB-061178. The exact details of his deployment and current status remain unknown.

Dmitry Uss was registered as a presidential candidate in 2010, but Alexander Lukashenko decided to include all interested candidates in the ballot that year. Despite the challenges he faced, Dmitry Uss's political career has not been a focus of recent news, and the reason for his son's decision to join the Russian army in Ukraine remains a mystery.
