XinXii, a German self-publishing platform, has been operational for two years. Now, it is expanding into the international market, offering books in English and French languages. XinXii aims to provide a platform for writers to bypass traditional publishing houses and reach readers directly.
Barnes & Noble's Self-Publishing Service
Barnes & Noble, the company that launched the largest online self-publishing platform for eBooks in October 2010, has launched PubIt!, a self-publishing effort aimed at authors. However, PubIt! has been delayed from its originally slated summer release.
New E-Readers and Tablets on the Market
A new retail partner, Shop e-Readers, is now available, offering e-readers from various brands such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Sony, and others. Every e-reader purchased from Shop e-Readers comes with 100 free ebooks and a custom video tutorial DVD.
The new Amazon Kindle DX Graphite is now available for purchase. It can be purchased from retail partner Shop e-Readers, who offer 100 free ebooks with purchase.
Cisco's Corporate Tablet
Cisco has revealed details about their tablet, the Cisco Cius, which is aimed at the corporate crowd or firms looking to take advantage of custom Cisco conferencing and applications. Unlike other tablets such as the iPad and Samsung Galaxy, the Cisco Cius is not marketed towards average consumers.
Subscriptions and Applications for Samsung and RIM
Samsung and RIM are working with most major news companies in the USA to iron out dedicated applications. The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available in the UK starting November 1st, across major networks, high street and out of town electrical retailers, and online stores like Carphone Warehouse, Dixons Store Group, and T-Mobile.
Blio's Expanding Reach
The Blio e-reading application, notable for its ability to display videos and interactive content, including HTML, is now available for most Windows devices, including computers, netbooks, and tablet computers. It supports various book languages, including English, French, Spanish, and others in development such as Italian, German, and Asian languages.
October 2010 sees the release of new ebooks by popular authors such as J.R Ward, Michael Connelly, Stephen King, and John Grisham on the Blio platform.
