Ania Majewska, Ph.D., a professor of Neuroscience and principal investigator of the Majewska Lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center, has been named a 2022 Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship awardee by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).

The Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship is a prestigious honour that recognizes exceptional commitment to the growth and development of mentees. The award, given by NINDS, honours leaders and role models who foster diversity within the scientific workforce.

Part of Majewska's success comes from her dedication to her students and her work in neuroscience, which spans nearly two decades. John Foxe, Ph.D., stated that Majewska has been a driving force in the field, uplifting those around her and holding others to the same standard.

Majewska is also a true champion in the kind of mentorship that is needed at the bench to ensure equitability in science. She is one of the founding members of the Neuroscience Diversity Commission and has been active in promoting diversity and inclusion within the field.

In addition to her work in neuroscience, Majewska has also been recognised for her leadership in education. She was named the Outstanding Graduate Program Director in 2020 by the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Stephen Korn, Ph.D., the director of the NINDS Office of Training and Workforce Development, stated that the Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship recognizes the exceptional commitment of six awardees to the growth and development of their mentees. The award includes a $100,000 supplement for an existing NINDS grant to support Majewska's effort to foster the career advancement of additional trainees.

The Landis Award for Outstanding Mentorship honorees are also recognized for their institutional activities that promote recruitment and inclusion of a diverse population of trainees and faculty. Majewska's work in this area has been instrumental in ensuring that the next generation of neuroscientists is diverse and inclusive.

In 2021, Majewska received the Peter Shrager Award for her successful leadership of the Neuroscience Graduate Program, dedication to science, and compassion. She continues to be a leader in the field, inspiring and mentoring the next generation of neuroscientists.

Despite her numerous accolades, there are no search results indicating which institution honored Majewska in 2022 for her outstanding research leadership in neuroscience. Regardless, her contributions to the field and to her students are undeniable, and she continues to make a significant impact in the world of neuroscience.
