Recognition granted to acclaimed film actor Jannis Niewöhner in the literary field

Jannis Niewöhner, a 33-year-old actor, has been honoured by the Hoffmann and Campe publishing house with the prestigious Julius-Campe Prize. The award recognises personalities and institutions that have made significant contributions to literary criticism or literary promotion.

Niewöhner, who is renowned as one of the most talented and successful actors of his generation, rose to fame with the fantasy trilogy "Rubinrot", "Saphirblau" and "Smaragdgrün". He has slipped into the role of leading figures from outstanding literary works in numerous literary adaptations, including "The Confessions of the High-Stakes Player Felix Krull", "Je suis Karl", and Ridley Scott's "Napoleon".

The award ceremony for Niewöhner will take place on October 17th during the Frankfurt Book Fair. Caroline Wahl, author of the novel "22 Lanes", will give the laudation at the event. The prize for Niewöhner's work is endowed with 99 bottles of fine wine.

The Julius-Campe Prize is a highly respected award in the literary world. Previous recipients include prominent figures such as Olympic champion Sonja Greinacher, comedian Michael Mittermeier, bestselling author Joachim Meyerhoff, influencer Lola Weippert, and pianist Louis Philippson. Each of these personalities presented awards in different categories during the German Radio Award 2025 ceremony, which took place in Hamburg on September 11, 2025.

Tim Jung, publishing director of Hoffmann and Campe, expressed his admiration for Niewöhner's work, stating that he has brought literature to screens and made it accessible to a large audience. The award also includes a facsimile of Heinrich Heine's "French Affairs" published by Hoffmann and Campe.

Niewöhner is currently starring in Mia Maariel Meyer's "22 Lanes". This recognition is a testament to his continued success and dedication to his craft.
