The city of Dresden is gearing up for a significant transformation, with the Social Democratic Party (SPD) urging for faster action in redesigning the main station's forecourt. The current condition of the area is described as dark and dirty, causing many travelers to avoid it.

The upcoming BUGA, scheduled to attract thousands of people to Dresden, has heightened the need for immediate improvement. The SPD believes that the main station, considered the showcase of the city, should be a welcoming and inviting space for visitors.

In response, the SPD has proposed a comprehensive redesign for the main station's forecourt. This includes improvements such as better lighting, signage, safety measures, drinking fountains, seating options, and artistic design. The proposals extend to the area under the bridge as well.

The SPD has submitted a resolution for this redesign to the city council, and an event for public input is scheduled for Thursday, September 21, from 4 to 6 pm. The location of the event is on-site at the main station's forecourt in Dresden, making it convenient for the people of Dresden to attend.

The event provides an opportunity for the people of Dresden to have a direct impact on the redesign of the main station's forecourt. The purpose of the event is for the people to share their opinions and contribute their ideas for the redesign. Greening is also desired as part of the proposed redesign.

The SPD is urging Mayor Dirk Hilbert to initiate the redesign of the eastern area, particularly under the bridge, in the near future. The event is open to all residents of Dresden who are interested in participating.

It's worth noting that the current city concept plans for a redesign of the area, but not until 2035. The SPD's proposals aim to expedite this process to ensure that the main station's forecourt is ready to welcome the thousands of people expected for the BUGA.

The redesign is part of an ongoing process to improve the city's infrastructure and appeal, and the public's involvement is crucial in shaping the future of Dresden's main station.
