In a series of events that unfolded on the morning of August 15, 2025, a 28-year-old became the victim of an attack at a bus stop in Landshuterstraße, Regensburg. The incident, which took place at around 7 am, saw the 28-year-old lose his phone and sustain injuries during the assault.

According to reports, the 28-year-old's countrymen were drinking alcohol at the bus stop when the attack occurred. The attackers, whose exact number is four, used glass bottles and pepper spray during the assault. The 28-year-old was initially attacked when he approached his countrymen to ask for his phone back. Unfortunately, he was attacked again when he tried to reclaim his phone after the initial attack.

Upon returning, the 28-year-old was attacked by the same men, and during the ensuing chaos, his lighter was lent to his attackers. One of the men was found to have approximately 1,000 euros in cash on him, while alleged genuine gold jewelry was seized from another.

The Regensburg Criminal Police and the Regensburg Public Prosecutor's Office have been conducting an investigation into the incident since it occurred. On August 16, 2025, arrest warrants were issued for three additional suspects, bringing the total number of suspects to seven.

The three men for whom arrest warrants have been issued and who are still in pre-trial detention are former Wirecard CEO Markus Braun, former Dubai head Oliver Bellinghaus, and former chief accountant Stephan von Erffa. They face charges including organized fraud, embezzlement, and accounting fraud related to the fictitious third-party business in the Wirecard scandal.

The four suspects were found and arrested on a park bench in Burgunderstraße on an unspecified date. The stolen phone was recovered during the arrest. The 28-year-old, who was the victim of the attack, had his arrest warrant issued under conditions.
