Regulation Implementation Acts to be Established: These acts will detail the specific conditions necessary for the execution of this Regulation.

On August 31st, the Office for Streets and Traffic, in conjunction with the Bremen tram company and scientists from Bremen University of Applied Sciences, are scheduled to perform load tests on the Burgermeister-Smidt-Bridge. The objective is to enable the resumption of tram services on the bridge.

In an exciting development for public transportation in Bremen, the Mayor-Smidt Bridge will reopen to buses and the city's MIV (motorized individual traffic) in the evening, paving the way for a series of tests aimed at reinstating tram traffic on the bridge.

The tests, scheduled for August 31, will be conducted in collaboration with Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG) and scientists from the University of Bremen. The primary objective is to simulate various encounter scenarios and prove redistribution effects within the bridge's overall structure. This could potentially result in the actual load on critical components being lower than suggested by pure mathematical calculations.

During the tests, various types of trams from BSAG will cross the Mayor-Smidt Bridge under full load, starting from 6 am on Sunday morning. The head of the Bridge and Structural Engineering division in the ASV, Martin Mathea, will oversee the test procedure.

If the assumption is confirmed, tram traffic on the Mayor-Smidt Bridge could be reinstated, providing a significant improvement to the city's public transport system. However, it's important to note that the search results do not provide specific names of scientists from the University of Bremen involved in the tests.

To ensure safety during the tests, the Mayor-Smidt Bridge will be closed to motorized individual traffic (MIV) and buses of the public transport system (ÖPNV) in the early morning hours of Sunday. Pedestrian and cyclist access will remain open on the bridge.

In the meantime, the Wilhelm-Kaisen Bridge will be available to all traffic participants, including buses and trams of the ÖPNV, on August 31st.

The tests will also aim to accurately measure the actual load in the critical components and compare it with the calculated load values. Different speeds will be tested during the load tests, providing valuable data for the assessment of the bridge's structural integrity.

The reopening of the Mayor-Smidt Bridge for tram traffic is a significant step towards improving public transportation in Bremen. The results of the tests on August 31 will provide crucial insights into the bridge's capacity and pave the way for its full reopening to all traffic participants.
