Remains of Sergio Corsano Discovered in Lake Como

In a tragic turn of events, renowned restaurateur and organizer of after-work parties in Buhl, Sergio Corsano, was found dead in Lake Como, northern Italy. The incident occurred near Dorio on the eastern shore of the lake.

Sergio was on Lake Como with his wife and two children when the unforeseen happened. The children fell overboard, and in a heroic attempt to save them, Sergio jumped into the water.

However, the conditions on Lake Como that day proved treacherous. Especially in the northern part, changing winds can generate strong waves, and it is suspected that Sergio may have been caught in a current. Unfortunately, despite the valiant efforts of two divers who recovered the children, Sergio did not resurface.

The discovery of Sergio's body was made by a remotely operated underwater robot at a depth of approximately 220 meters. The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the city of Buhl and beyond, according to Mayor Hubert Schnurr, who described it as a "major shock."

The consternation is not only great in Buhl but throughout the region, according to Mayor Schnurr. The search for Sergio was hampered by adverse weather conditions, adding to the sorrow of the situation.

This tragedy is not an isolated incident. In July 2024, a similar incident occurred on Lake Como: a 51-year-old German died while trying to help his son while swimming. Lake Como, one of the deepest lakes in Europe, with a depth of over 400 meters, has claimed another life.

The body of Sergio Corsano is now available to the relevant authorities for necessary examinations. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
