Desert Rock Resort: A Music-Inspired Retreat Along Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Coastline

Nestled along Saudi Arabia's picturesque Red Sea coastline, the music-inspired Desert Rock resort has reopened its doors to the public after summer renovations. The resort, conceived, planned, and executed by Red Sea Global, offers a unique blend of luxury, sustainability, and entertainment.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a memorable entrance, including a stunning welcome pavilion and friendly staff. The resort is divided into four areas, with our family staying in the Sabah (Arabic for "morning") section.

The villa boasts a spacious living-dining area, a large two-tiered terrace with family games, and a standalone bathtub in the master bathroom, as well as a massive walk-in rain shower. Our two-bedroom villa features a king-size bed in the master bedroom and two queen beds in the second bedroom.

The resort offers next-level service in a truly astonishing setting. The Analogue Room, a highlight for music enthusiasts, offers an excellently curated selection of vintage records for guests to listen to. You can listen to records with headphones in the Analogue Room or take them to the Listening Room, where they can be played on a high-tech Bang & Olufsen record player.

For those seeking relaxation, the spa at Desert Rock is a haven. It boasts a maze of treatment rooms and facilities, including experience showers, saunas, steam rooms, hammams, a vitality pool with cold plunge, and an outdoor yoga pavilion. In-house instructor Sofia leads a soothing Hatha yoga class that combines sound healing and crystals.

The food at Desert Rock is superb. Basalt serves fresh and flavorful Peruvian cuisine during lunch hours, while modern Indian cuisine is on offer in the evening. Nyra, the signature restaurant, offers inventive Turkish fusion recipes and a tasting menu paired with innovative mocktails.

The resort caters to families with a children's club that keeps children busy with sustainable wooden STEM toys, a large TV screen, a shaded outdoor playground, and mini electric vehicles for little ones to take out into the nearby desert. Highchairs and children's menus are available throughout the venues, with options ranging from classic choices such as pizza, pasta, and burgers to healthier picks such as salad, soup, and grilled chicken.

Desert Rock abides by a regenerative tourism ethos and has been designed to blend in with natural surroundings and respect the indigenous flora and fauna. Wheelchairs can access all hotel amenities, including the pool, children's club, boardroom, and spa.

Rates for a one-bedroom Wadi Villa at Desert Rock start from $1,866 (Dh6,850) per night, including breakfast, with check-in time at 3pm and check-out at noon. The Moonlight Meteorite massage, a unique offering that uses a mixture of techniques and stretches a la Thai massage style, is an experience not to be missed.

In summary, Desert Rock Resort offers a unique blend of luxury, sustainability, and entertainment, making it an ideal destination for a memorable getaway.
