Reports from Sigmaringen District originate in Ravensburg
In an unexpected turn of events, a series of suspicious activities unfolded in the quiet town of Stetten am kalten Markt, District Sigmaringen, last Wednesday afternoon.
The local police post initiated an investigation against three individuals, suspected of offenses including banditry, driving without a license, and fleeing the scene of an accident. The suspects, aged 40, 38, and 22, are believed to have stolen a bus from the "An der Hilb" bus stop in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, which was in use for the current rail replacement service.
The incident occurred on the L 218 near Storzingen and Stetten am kalten Markt at approximately 5:30 PM. During their joyride, the suspects collided with another bus parked at a stop, causing significant damage to both buses, estimated at around €40,000. The collision resulted in delays and cancellations on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place in a right curve between Storzingen and Stetten am kalten Markt. The stolen bus was found abandoned near the cemetery. The police were able to quickly identify the three suspects based on traces and witness statements.
The accident resulted in one person with severe injuries and another with minor injuries. Both the motorcyclist and the passenger, both 22 years old, were taken to a hospital by emergency services. The motorcyclist is suspected of losing control due to inadequate speed.
