Frankfurt Residents Encouraged to Secure Their Bicycles

Frankfurt am Main is taking steps to combat bicycle theft, with a bike coding action scheduled for next Saturday, April 25th, 2025. This event, part of the spring festival at Buchrainplatz, aims to deter potential thieves and make it harder to illegally sell stolen bicycles.

During the event, interested citizens can have their bicycles coded for free. A personalized number will be engraved into the bicycle frame using a special device, creating a unique identifier for the bike's owner. This code also serves as a deterrent for would-be thieves.

The bike coding action is organised by the ADFC, and while the exact date for the next coding session is yet to be announced, the ADFC regularly offers such events, often in conjunction with city festivals or events.

For more information about the bike coding action, inquiries can be directed to the Presidential Palace Frankfurt am Main Press Office. The office can be reached at Adickesallee 70, 60322 Frankfurt am Main, Germany, by phone at 069 / 755-82110, or via fax at 069 / 755-82009. Alternatively, you can send an email to [email protected].

To participate in the bike coding event, citizens are asked to indicate their preferred time, name, and address via a provided link. It is important to note that an official identification document and proof of ownership/purchase receipt are required to have a bicycle coded.

The Presidential Palace Frankfurt am Main homepage is http://www.polizei.hessen.de/ppffm, where you can find more information about the city's police force and their initiatives.

Additional sessions for bicycle coding will be held in various Frankfurt districts. Dates and locations for these sessions can be found via a provided link. By taking these simple steps, Frankfurt residents can help to keep their bicycles secure and reduce the number of bike thefts in the city.
