Residents of Sochi Alerted About Approaching Adverse Weather Conditions

The Russian authorities have issued a weather warning for the Sochi and Sirius region, advising residents and guests to take precautions as a storm is expected to hit the area from September 8 to 10.

According to the Municipal Control Center (MCC), very heavy rain and heavy showers are forecasted for September 9 and 10, with the possibility of thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds with gusts up to 25 m/s. The MCC also warns that rainfall may reach dangerous levels, potentially leading to a sudden rise in river water levels.

The authorities responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and guests during this period include the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), local government emergency services, and the police. The MCC advises staying alert, particularly in mountainous and coastal areas, where landslides and waterspouts at sea are potential hazards.

To prepare for the storm, the MCC recommends limiting outdoor activities and moving cars from low-lying areas and away from trees. In case of an emergency, residents and guests are advised to contact emergency services at 112 or 111. However, no specific details about the storm's intensity or exact timing were provided, nor was any information given about the possible impact of the storm on the resort's operations.

At 6 PM, 7 PM, and 8 PM today, auditory warnings about the bad weather will be issued through siren-speaker systems. Unfortunately, the specific locations of these systems were not mentioned.

Residents and guests of the resort are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the situation develops. It is essential to prioritise safety during this period to ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay at the resort.
