The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has partnered with ShopperTrak to introduce the BRC-ShopperTrack Footfall Monitor, set to commence from March 16, 2020. This innovative initiative aims to provide the most accurate indicator of high street health to BRC members.

The new monitor will improve the way the BRC measures footfall by aggregating entries to stores across thousands of UK locations. This collaborative effort between the BRC and ShopperTrak, the UK's market leader in in-store footfall measurement, will offer a more complete picture of the UK retail landscape, including future possibilities and challenges.

Unlike other footfall measures, the BRC-ShopperTrak Monitor will track entries into stores themselves. This detail is expected to help retailers maximise sales opportunities, optimise scheduling, merchandising, inventory fulfilment, and loss prevention awareness.

Helen Dickinson OBE, Chief Executive of the British Retail Consortium, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership with ShopperTrak. She stated, "The insights from the BRC-ShopperTrak Monitor will empower our members to make better-informed business decisions, helping them navigate the ever-changing retail landscape."

Ian Muir, General Manager UK, MEA & India of ShopperTrak, shared similar sentiments, stating that the partnership will give the retail community access to the most accurate data. He added, "With ShopperTrak's index delivering insights based on input from over 1.5 million data collection devices and 40 billion shopper visits annually, we are confident that this collaboration will be instrumental in shaping the future of retail."

The BRC-ShopperTrak Footfall Monitor will complement the BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor and the BRC Retail Employment Monitor, providing a comprehensive view of the UK retail sector. However, as of now, the name of the person who serves as General Manager UK, MEA & India at ShopperTrak remains undisclosed.

In conclusion, the BRC-ShopperTrak Footfall Monitor promises to revolutionise the way footfall is measured in the UK retail sector, offering valuable insights and aiding businesses in making informed decisions. This partnership is a significant step towards understanding and improving the health of the high street.
