Retail giant Zara persists in its prime store at Campos Elíseos
Inditex Plans to Open a Flagship Zara Store on Champs-Élysées
Inditex, the parent company of popular fashion retailer Zara, is set to open a new flagship store on the iconic Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The project, however, is subject to approval from the Departmental Commission for Commercial Reorganization (CDAC).
The proposed store will occupy a 2,000 square meter space within a historic building, originally constructed in 1898, which is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation. The total cost of the renovation project is estimated to be thirty million euros, according to Société Foncière Lyonnaise (SFL), the real estate company overseeing the project.
In order to make way for the new Zara store, Inditex will have to transform one of its other two stores on the avenue into a Zara Home. The exact location of the new store is number 92 on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
The CDAC previously rejected Inditex's project in May due to opposition to the opening of establishments of more than 1,000 square meters. However, a new verdict on the project is expected on December 21.
The Champs-Élysées is no stranger to international fashion brands. In addition to Inditex, H&M, Tommy Hilfiger, Marks & Spencer, Banana Republic, and Abercrombie & Fitch have also established a presence on the avenue.
Bertrand Julien-Laferrière, the CEO of Société Foncière Lyonnaise (SFL), is leading the project. The project also involves the renovation of 4,717 square meters of offices on Champs-Élysées, in addition to the stores.
The search results do not contain information about the person or institution responsible for the complete renovation and transformation of a future Zara Home on Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The project, if approved, will mark a significant expansion for Inditex in the French capital.
