Revamped library offering for the urban community
The city of Gießen is gearing up for an intriguing autumn season with the Crime Festival Gießen, a series of captivating events that will captivate both crime enthusiasts and literature lovers alike.
Starting from September 14th, tickets for the festival's events will be available on their official website. One of the highly anticipated events is "The Magician", a novel that was awarded the European Union Literature Prize in 2015 and has been translated from Polish by Lothar Quinckenstein. The book will be presented on October 30 in the city council chamber.
For those who enjoy true-crime stories, "Death Transit - The Murder Case of Stippbach Valley" should not be missed. Based on a real, unsolved criminal case from 1981, this event will take place on November 20. Erwin Müller, the author of the novel, will speak about the case and his book.
The festival will also feature a musical evening on November 6, as part of the "Library's Stage" event series. Tess Wiley, a mature, independent, and versatile musician, will perform. Her latest release, "Femme Sole", is a powerful EP that showcases her talent.
Sacha Gutzeit will appear at the city library on October 24 with the second volume of the children's crime book series "The City-Country-Fluss Detectives - The Night of the Phantom". This promises to be a thrilling and educational event for young readers.
The festival will also coincide with the national "Day of Libraries" on October 24. In cooperation with the Crime Festival Gießen, the city library will celebrate this day with special events.

Lastly, Sofi Oksanen, an award-winning author, will read a thriller already awarded with several prizes on October 30 in the town archive's council hall in Gießen. This event is sure to be a highlight of the festival.
