Revamping the Public Swimming Spot at Ring-Allee

The Ringallee Public Bath in Gießen has undergone a significant renovation, transforming the facility to be more inclusive for all guests, especially those with mobility impairments.

Gießen City Works (SWG) has spearheaded the renovation, focusing on creating an inviting and accessible environment. Uwe Volbrecht, the head of Gießen Baths, has emphasized this commitment, stating that the improvements are essential for ensuring every guest feels welcome at the baths.

One of the key additions to the renovated facility is a wheelchair-accessible sanitary area. This space includes a WC equipped with a backrest and support grab bars, a wheelchair-accessible sink with support handles and a single-lever mixer, and a shower area designed for mobility-impaired individuals. The shower features a floor-level shower with a fold-down seat, support grab bars, and faucets with extended levers.

For added safety, a call system with visual and auditory signals has been provided in the renovated sanitary area. Furthermore, the area features under-counter power outlets and automatic lighting, allowing for independent use.

A pool lift has also been installed, making it easier for guests with mobility impairments to access the water.

Samuel Groß, the city of Gießen's disability officer, has praised the wheelchair-accessible renovation, stating that it significantly improves the visit to the Ringallee Public Bath for guests with mobility impairments.

The renovated sanitary area is now available for use, and Gießen City Works has ensured unimpeded access to showers and WCs for people with disabilities at the baths.

However, the search results do not provide information about the architect or firm responsible for the wheelchair-accessible renovation of the Ringallee Public Bath in Gießen.

The renovation of the sanitary area was carried out in close cooperation with Samuel Groß, the city of Gießen's disability officer. The Ringallee Public Bath has now emerged as a more accessible and inclusive facility, enhancing the overall experience for all its guests.
