Revelry at the Bamberger Sandkerwa: Visitors' Shirts Provide a Hilarious Spectacle
In the heart of Bamberg, Germany, the 75th anniversary of the Sandkerwa festival was celebrated in style. Visitors spread out among multiple locations, each one buzzing with energy and camaraderie.
Among the festive crowd, humorous statement shirts stood out. One man, hailing from the Bamberg area, wore a shirt that read, "Nobody's perfect, but the Franconian is pretty close." Another man, visiting from Leipzig for the first time, donned a shirt that said, "Who can't keep up with me, bring me a beer."
The flow of beer started early on Sandkerwa Sunday, with the first pints being poured at 11 am in the festival area. The Schlenkerla, a popular establishment serving smoked and other beers, was a hub of activity. A Korean student, who had come to Germany in part to experience German beer culture, also savoured her first taste of smoked beer, sharing her experience on social media.
Several visitors wore shirts with references to beer and beer culture. One man sported an iconic Beatles-inspired design with four beer glasses crossing a zebra crossing, with "The Beers" written above. A woman enjoyed her drink by the Regnitz river while wearing a shirt that read, "Come on, open the Sekt, nobody else can handle it." Another woman wore a T-shirt that read, "If it's Lisala's birthday - The Sandkerwa song." This song, sung by Egon Herrnleben, a contestant from "Voice of Germany," is a popular tune at the festival.
Sekt, a type of sparkling wine, also made an appearance. Our colleagues from Fränkischen Tag (plus) have provided information about the cost of Seidlas at this year's Sandkerwa. One woman wore a shirt that made a reference to Sekt, and another visitor was seen wearing socks with the Schlenkerla logo.
The woman who wore the Sekt-themed shirt shared that she wished she had known the saying about landing on her feet during her accident. The saying, "Children and drunks always land on their feet," is well-known in Bamberg.
Information about the Lisala's birthday song and its origin can be found on Fränkischen Tag (plus) and listened to online. The 75th anniversary Kerwa shirts are available at the Papeterie in the Sand, located at Obere Sandstraße 14.
Despite the lively atmosphere, there were moments of poignancy. A woman wore a special T-shirt with the text, "If it's Lisala's birthday - The Sandkerwa song." This song is sung by Egon Herrnleben, a contestant from "Voice of Germany." The search results do not provide information about who compiled the T-shirt collection of inFranken.de at the Bamberger Sandkerwa 2023.
As the day wore on, the festival continued to be a celebration of beer, music, and camaraderie. The Bamberger Sandkerwa 2023 was indeed a memorable event, with visitors from near and far coming together to celebrate Bamberg's rich beer culture and tradition.
