Revised transport strategy unveiled for the Bavarian Lower Main region

The city of Aschaffenburg, along with the districts of Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg, have announced the adoption and implementation of a new local public transport plan for the Bavarian Untermain. This comprehensive plan, developed over a period of more than one and a half years, was created through active citizen participation and under the leadership of AMINA - Aschaffenburg Miltenberg Public Transport GmbH, in collaboration with the PTV Transport Consult office.

The new local public transport plan outlines the current situation of public passenger transport in the region, sets out the goals and measures for the coming years, and spans 157 pages. Key aspects of the plan include improving service offerings, introducing on-demand transport, upgrading bus stop infrastructure, increasing the use of alternative bus fuels, and revising existing route bundles.

Citizens had the opportunity to participate in an online participation process during the development of the plan. The new local public transport plan is now available for download at this link: Local Public Transport Plan.

One of the significant changes outlined in the plan is the introduction of on-demand transport, which aims to provide more flexible and personalised travel options for residents. Additionally, the plan emphasises the need to upgrade bus stop infrastructure to ensure accessibility and comfort for all users.

Another important aspect of the new plan is the focus on increasing the use of alternative bus fuels, such as electricity and natural gas, to reduce emissions and promote sustainable transport. This commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected throughout the plan, making it a comprehensive guide for the future of public transport in the Bavarian Untermain.

The new local public transport plan for the Bavarian Untermain marks a significant step forward in ensuring efficient, sustainable, and accessible public transport for residents and visitors alike. With its focus on improving service offerings, introducing on-demand transport, upgrading bus stop infrastructure, increasing the use of alternative bus fuels, and revising existing route bundles, the plan promises to transform the way people travel in the region.
