Rise of Chinese Actress Xin Zhilei: Her Journey to Top as Best Actress at Venice Film Festival

In a historic win at the Venice Film Festival, 39-year-old actress Xin Zhilei was awarded the Best Actress accolade for her captivating portrayal of Meiyun in the film "The Sun Rises on Us All."

Set against an unspecified backdrop, the movie follows Meiyun, a small-time business owner, who encounters her ex-partner Baoshu, played by Zhang Songwen, after a series of life-altering events. Meiyun is already grappling with pressures in her personal and professional life before this encounter.

The interview with Xin Zhilei took place at a hotel on Venice's Lido island, in a cottage space as delicate as a dollhouse. Deanie Ip Tak-han, from The Post, conducted the interview.

In the film, Baoshu is involved in a hit-and-run incident, for which he is imprisoned instead of Meiyun. This twist adds another layer of complexity to the narrative, highlighting Xin Zhilei's ability to deliver a nuanced performance.

Directed by Cai Shangjun, "The Sun Rises on Us All" is a poignant exploration of relationships, resilience, and the human spirit. Despite the absence of any direct mention of films like "A Simple Life" or "The Story of Qiu Ju," it is clear that Xin Zhilei's win is a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft.

As Xin Zhilei continues to make waves in the film industry, her performance in "The Sun Rises on Us All" stands as a remarkable achievement, cementing her place as a formidable actress to watch.
