Road Repairs at Lemay and Prospect Intersection to enforce Four-Way Stops

On Sunday, Sept. 7, the intersection of Lemay Avenue and Prospect Road in Fort Collins, Colorado, will operate as a four-way stop from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This temporary measure is due to City of Fort Collins crews completing critical traffic signal repairs.

The company responsible for installing the traffic control technology at the intersection is Siemens. The repairs include the installation of a new traffic cabinet to finalize the repairs, and the traffic signals will be shut off during the installation process.

Drivers in all directions will be required to stop at the intersection. For safety, flaggers will guide vehicles through the intersection during the installation. However, significant congestion is still possible, and drivers are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes if possible.

The City of Fort Collins advises motorists to plan to minimize delays. Construction updates are provided by the City of Fort Collins, and for more information on traffic impacts and construction projects, visit fcgov.com/construction.

Motorists are reminded that they will be required to stop at the intersection, and although work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., crews may complete the work earlier. Despite the potential early completion of work, drivers are still encouraged to avoid the area if possible due to the potential for significant congestion.

The need for these repairs arises from a crash earlier this year that severely damaged the traffic signal system at the intersection. The City of Fort Collins encourages everyone to drive safely and follow the instructions of the flaggers during this time.
