Roadway 7 in Perth reopens following severe traffic accident
In a post on social media, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported a serious collision that took place on Highway 7 in Perth on August 20. The collision involved a motorcycle and a car.
The incident occurred around the city of Kassel on Highway 7. As a result, the highway was closed in both directions. Motorists were asked to avoid the area due to the closure. Eastbound traffic was directed to Highway 511, and westbound traffic was directed to Drummond Concession Road 7.
One person sustained life-threatening injuries following the collision. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital. Fortunately, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was not reported to have any injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The OPP stated that the closure is expected to be prolonged while the investigation continues. However, the highway reopened at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 20.
The OPP urges all motorists to exercise caution and follow the posted detours to ensure safety for everyone on the roads. The police will provide updates as more information becomes available.
