Robot vacuum manufacturer Eufy unveils a miniature mechanical exoskeleton for its devices, enabling them to traverse staircases.

Eufy, a leading manufacturer of smart home appliances, has announced the launch of its latest innovation – the MarsWalker. This remarkable device, showcased at IFA 2025 in Berlin, is set to hit the market in the spring of next year. While pricing details are yet to be revealed, anticipation is building around this unique robot vacuum that promises to revolutionise home cleaning.

The MarsWalker stands out from other robot vacuums on the market by its ability to climb stairs. It achieves this feat by extending robotic arms to touch the first step and then driving forward, climbing up. This feature makes it possible for the MarsWalker to clean multiple floors of a house effectively.

Interestingly, the closest stair-climbing robot currently available can only manage tiny steps. The MarsWalker, however, is designed to handle stairs that reach a landing and turn, either at a right angle or back in the other direction. It even has the potential to navigate spiral staircases, but only with a wide curve.

The MarsWalker is not just a standalone device. It has been designed to work in collaboration with other Eufy robot vacuums. The Eufy RoboVac G30 and RoboVac G30 Edge, scheduled for release in the same season, are compatible with the MarsWalker. However, it's important to note that not all Eufy robot vacuums will be compatible, with the Omni S1 Pro not guaranteed to work with the MarsWalker.

The MarsWalker is not the only stair-climbing robot in development. Migo Robotics' Ascender, although not yet released, is another contender in this space.

But what sets the MarsWalker apart is its additional features. It boasts a self-cleaning mop, ensuring floors are not only vacuumed but also mopped to a high standard. The MarsWalker also utilises advanced technology to rid floors of "99.999%" of bacteria and pathogens, making it an ideal choice for households seeking thorough disinfection.

The MarsWalker is a follow-up to the Omni S1 Pro, and it's clear that Eufy has taken the lessons learned from its predecessor to heart. The new model boasts 30,000Pa suction, significantly higher than the Omni E28's 20,000Pa and way beyond the S1 Pro's 8,000Pa.

The Omni S2 also boasts an UniClean Station 2.0, which can empty, wash, dry, and refill the S2 with cleaning solution for the next run. Additionally, the S2 releases scents like "Citrus and Basil," "Bamboo and Sage," and "Bergamot and Lychee" as it cleans, adding a touch of luxury to the cleaning process.

The Omni S2 is expected to retail for $1,599 in the U.S. in January, making it a premium investment for those seeking a high-performing, versatile, and smart home appliance. With the MarsWalker, Eufy has addressed common issues such as adapting to different floor surfaces, terrible carpet performance, clogged filters, and the inability to disinfect floors, offering homeowners a comprehensive solution to their cleaning needs.
