Robotaxi firm Zoox teams up with Resorts World for joint venture

Resorts World Las Vegas and autonomous ride-hailing company Zoox, a subsidiary of Amazon, have joined forces to redefine hospitality and travel in the city. This collaboration aims to revolutionize the guest experience by integrating Zoox's autonomous taxi services.

Zoox, which made history as the first company to deploy a self-driving robotaxi on public roads in Las Vegas, will now be the first robotaxi provider to form an official partnership with a Las Vegas resort. This partnership with Resorts World Las Vegas is set to augment visitor experiences by offering rides in Zoox's unique four-passenger autonomous vehicles, equipped with no steering wheel or pedals. These vehicles are designed to provide a comfortable and distinctive means of exploration along the Las Vegas Strip.

According to Zoox's official statement, the company offers a premium transportation experience through its advanced robotaxis. The collaboration with Resorts World Las Vegas includes a dedicated, branded pickup and drop-off location at the resort. Moreover, the partnership offers additional on-site opportunities, such as a unique experiential activation within the resort grounds.

While Zoox has not yet launched its commercial service for paid public rides in Las Vegas, those interested in the service must first join the company's Explorer program. This exclusive initiative allows a select group of participants to experience the Zoox robotaxi at no cost and offer feedback.

The company plans to roll out its robotaxi service to the public in Las Vegas later this year, marking its second attempt to introduce its system in the city. However, earlier this month, Zoox recalled its taxi fleet following an investigation into a crash between one of the company's self-driving vehicles and another passenger car.

Despite these setbacks, Zoox remains optimistic about the collaboration. Michael White, Zoox's Chief Product Officer, stated that both companies share a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences. He believes that riders using Zoox's service will enjoy a level of comfort and innovation that mirrors the premium hospitality associated with Resorts World's brands.

Carlos Castro, CFO of Resorts World, also expressed optimism. He asserts that the partnership with Zoox underscores the resort's dedication to technology that enhances guest experiences and service offerings. By incorporating Zoox robotaxis into its transportation network, Resorts World is expanding mobility options for visitors, thereby contributing to Las Vegas's reputation as a global leader in innovation.

This collaboration not only enhances the guest experience at Resorts World Las Vegas but also positions the resort and Zoox as pioneers in the future of smart cities and hospitality innovation.

The collaboration between Resorts World Las Vegas and autonomous ride-hailing company Zoox, a subsidiary of Amazon, will make Zoox the first robotaxi provider to form an official partnership with a Las Vegas resort. Starting later this year, visitors can enjoy rides in Zoox's four-passenger autonomous vehicles along the Las Vegas Strip, further cementing Las Vegas's reputation as a global leader in technology, casino-and-gambling, and innovation.
