Rodner Festivities Kick-Off Saarlouis Week with Barrel Hoist and Carriage Race in the Marathon
The Rodener Days, a cherished tradition in Saarlouis, have returned to the beautiful Europastadt Saarlouis. This year's event, marked by a blend of tradition, sociability, creativity, and entertainment, was officially opened on Thursday.
Mayor Marc Speicher, in his speech, emphasised the importance of voluntary commitment to the cultural life of the city. He thanked everyone who helps out with the festival, including those behind the stands, during setup, for dismantling, cleaning, and pouring beer.
Speicher continued his previous initiative as a city councilor, subsidizing neighbourhood festivals, by financially supporting the Rodener Days. This support was crucial in saving the festival from cancellation due to the Corona pandemic.
The Rodener Days are the starting point for the 10-day Saarlouis Week, which is also supported by the Europastadt Saarlouis. The Saarlouis Week and the Rodener Days offer a diverse entertainment program catering to both young and old visitors.
The entertainment program on the Rodener festival grounds includes live music, DJ sets, dance performances, and a children's flea market. The event was combined with a creative participation action, encouraging visitors to arrive by wagon.
The traditional neighbourhood festival is organised by the Förderverein Die Rodener e.V. The three largest groups of wagon-arriving visitors were awarded on-site. To add to the festivities, Mayor Speicher performed the traditional tapping of the keg at the event.
The Rodener Days, as always, offer a unique mix of tradition, sociability, creativity, and entertainment. They mark the start of the annual Saarlouis Week, promising a memorable 10 days of celebration in the heart of Europastadt Saarlouis.
