Slovenia Prepares Strong Team for Road World Championships

Slovenia is set to field a formidable team at the UCI Road World Championships, scheduled to take place in Rwanda this month. The Slovenian team, led by Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, will be aiming to defend their titles and challenge for podium places.

Pogacar, the defending champion, will be participating only in the road race, while Roglic, who has not raced since Clásica San Sebastián at the start of August, will compete in both the road race and the time trial. The Slovenian team can field a maximum of eight riders, with Matej Mohoric and Remco Evenepoel also expected to be selected alongside Pogacar and Roglic.

However, Jonas Vingegaard will not compete at the Road World Championships. The full team announcements are expected to be made in the coming weeks, but besides Pogacar, Roglic, and Mohoric, the other Slovenian riders have not been specifically named in the available sources. Jan Tratnik, Luka Mezgec, Domen Novak, and Gal Glivar are among the potential riders for the Slovenian team.

Urška Žigart is likely to lead the Slovenian women's road race team. Unfortunately, big names such as Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert will not compete at the Road World Championships.

Reports from Het Laatste Nieuws suggest that Roglic will be part of the Slovenian team for the Road World Championships. Roglic has decided to forgo any warm-up races before the event.

As the second-ranked nation on the UCI rankings, Slovenia may enter two riders into the elite time trial at the Road World Championships. Tadej Pogacar, the defending champion, will be one of them.

The Slovenian lineup for the Road World Championships is yet to be fully confirmed, but with their strong team and the home advantage of racing in Rwanda, Slovenia will be aiming to make a significant impact at the event.
