Romanian authorities are planning to enhance the efficiency of document processing by investing 15 million euros in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology.
The Romanian government has approved a memorandum to extend a service contract with UiPath for the automation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions within the public administration. The extension will see the contract run until the end of August 2026, according to an announcement made by Radu Mihaiu, a USR MP.
The initial project, which was scheduled for completion before the end of 2025, was previously scrapped due to doubts about its ability to meet the deadline set by the National Relaunch and Resilience Plan (PNRR). However, the extension of the contract was proposed to ensure the unitary and efficient implementation of RPA solutions.
The project involves the automation of processes within at least 18 central public institutions. The investment for the RPA solutions is financed from the PNRR with almost EUR 15 million. The details of the revised project, including its potential for meeting the extended deadline, are not disclosed.
RPA solutions are software automation of processes, which aim to streamline and improve the efficiency of various operations within the public sector. The extension of the contract was announced following a memorandum promoted by Radu Miruta, economy minister of USR.
Dragos Pislaru, investments minister of REPER, was also involved in the promotion of the memorandum. The memorandum proposes to extend the implementation period of the financing contract until August 31, 2026. The service contract for the automation of RPA robotic work processes has an implementation period of at least 12 months.
The source of the information is Economedia.ro. It is worth noting that the specific central public institutions designated to implement RPA solutions under the National Relaunch and Resilience Plan are not listed in the available search results.
The project extension comes as part of the Romanian government's efforts to modernise the public administration and improve its efficiency. The extended contract with UiPath is expected to contribute significantly to these efforts by automating various processes and improving their accuracy and speed.
