Romanian Post Experiences Growth in Revenues but Profit Decline in First Half of 2025
Romania's Postal Operator Sees Revenue Growth but Net Profit Falls
Romania's state-owned postal operator, Compania Nationala Posta Romana (CNPR), has reported a 10.6% increase in revenue for the first half of 2025, reaching RON 896 million (EUR 179 million). This figure represents a significant rise from the total revenue of RON 814 million reported for the same period in 2024.
However, the company's net profit has taken a hit, falling from RON 16.82 million in 2024 to RON 13.24 million in the first half of 2025. This decline is attributed to the faster growth in expenses, which climbed 12.6% to RON 914 million.
In 2024, the total revenue of CNPR stood at RON 1.719 billion, marking a fivefold surge in net profit to RON 70.72 million compared to the previous year. For full-year 2025, the company forecasts a gross profit of RON 34.56 million, which is lower than the net profit of RON 70.72 million achieved in 2024.
The Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization is the majority owner of CNPR, holding 93.75% of the company, while Fondul Proprietatea holds the remaining 6.25%.
Despite the revenue growth, CNPR has seen a reduction in its workforce. The company lost nearly 1,000 jobs over the past 12 months, bringing the workforce down to 20,423 employees at the end of June 2025, as compared to 21,417 employees a year earlier.
Looking ahead, CNPR forecasts total revenues of RON 1.919 billion for full-year 2025, representing a 7.6% increase from the preliminary 2024 levels of RON 1.719 billion.
