The Heart-Circulatory Center at Klinikum Hersfeld-Rotenburg has once again proven its expertise in the treatment of high blood pressure, as it has been recertified as a "Hypertension Center" by the German High Blood Pressure League (DHL). This prestigious recognition is a testament to the center's commitment to providing high-quality care for patients with hypertension.

Over the past three years, the Heart-Circulatory Center Rotenburg has made significant strides in hypertension management. This has been achieved through optimized patient care protocols, the implementation of advanced diagnostic and treatment methods, and enhanced interdisciplinary cooperation among cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, and neurology.

Professor Dr. Marcus Franz, who oversees the overall cardiac care at the HKZ Rotenburg, emphasizes the importance of proper blood pressure management. He notes that besides cholesterol, factors such as nicotine consumption, diabetes, and high blood pressure are important risk factors for various diseases, including heart attack and stroke. Prof. Franz also highlights the significance of reducing 'bad' cholesterol (LDL-cholesterol) in the treatment of risk factors promoting vascular calcification.

The recertification process encourages clinics to establish regular further training, structural improvements, and cooperations. Dr. Biljana Vokic led the recertification process at the Heart-Circulatory Center, with Manja Mohr contributing in Quality Management.

The DHL is a non-profit scientific society founded in 1974, based in Heidelberg, with around 4,000 members. It is committed to research, training, education, and quality assurance in the field of high blood pressure. The organization awards the "Certified Hypertension Center DHL®" label to facilities demonstrating exceptional expertise in the diagnosis and therapy of arterial hypertension.

This recertification not only supports the attraction of new patients but also strengthens trust in the competence of certified facilities. It provides medical transparency and orientation for patients, as well as defining medical quality standards through its certification. The award also highlights the Heart-Circulatory Center's adherence to current guidelines and therapy paths for high blood pressure.

Prof. Franz mentions that interventional therapy procedures may be necessary to meet the complex challenge of high-quality care for patients with high blood pressure. The treatment concept for high blood pressure at the Heart-Circulatory Center is structured and scientifically-based.

The German High Blood Pressure League organizes training for specialist personnel ("Hypertensiologist DHL®"), hosts an annual scientific congress, and sets medical quality standards through its certification. These efforts contribute to the ongoing improvement and advancement in the treatment of high blood pressure.
