Rugby team, the Springboks, decides to include De Klerk in the lineup for the New Zealand tour.

The South African rugby team, the Springboks, are gearing up for a challenging series against the All Blacks in New Zealand. The series, consisting of two Tests, will see the Springboks face their rivals at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday and a week later in Wellington.

The 33-year-old scrumhalf, Faf de Klerk, who was a vital player in the sides that won the last two World Cups, will be part of the touring squad. De Klerk's last full international game was against New Zealand in the 2023 World Cup final. However, since the 2023 World Cup final, he has suffered a series of injuries, limiting his international appearances this season to only two, both off the bench, against Italy and Georgia.

The inclusion of De Klerk in the squad increases the size of the squad to 36 players. The coach of the Springboks, Rassie Erasmus, has been leading the South African team during the 2025 Rugby Championship and made recent lineup changes after a defeat to the All Blacks.

Unfortunately, the hooker Bongi Mbonambi will not be part of the touring squad as he remains behind in South Africa to attend to family matters.

The Springboks have had a mixed start to the season, losing one and winning one of their opening two matches at home to Australia. The upcoming matches against the All Blacks present an opportunity for the Springboks to bounce back and secure a series victory.

The Springboks' tour of New Zealand comes as they prepare for the upcoming matches in the Rugby Championship, which is scheduled to begin later in the year. The exact dates and tournament or competition for these matches against the All Blacks have not been announced.

The Springboks will be looking to avenge their defeat to the All Blacks in the 2023 World Cup final and will be hoping that the return of De Klerk, along with other lineup changes, will help them achieve this goal. The first Test against the All Blacks will take place in Auckland, New Zealand, on Saturday. The second Test will be a week later in Wellington.
