Russian assault alert triggers sheltering of young Portuguese in Ukrainian city of Lviv
In the heart of Lviv, Ukraine, a unique gathering took place between young people from Portugal and Ukraine. The activity, which attracted participants from far and wide, was a significant event that lasted several days.
Miguel, a young man from Paรงos de Ferreira, Portugal, was one of the participants. He found the experience intense and expects it to take time to fully process. On the last day of the activity, he had a brief meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
However, the peace was short-lived. A few hours after their meeting, the Prime Minister's government building was hit by a Russian missile. The incident occurred amidst an alert in Lviv, causing the use of a shelter. Fortunately, no attack occurred during the alert, and it was lifted a few minutes later.
The Prime Minister who met with Miguel is not directly named in the search results provided. As of the latest information in 2025, Olha Stefanishyna, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration since 2020 and also the Minister of Justice from September 2024, is not the Prime Minister.
Leontiy, a participant from Kharkiv, Ukraine, was surprised by the number of young people coming from far distances. The activity, organised to foster understanding and cooperation between the two nations, was a success in bringing together youth from both Ukraine and Portugal.
The European Commission in Portugal aims to convey the conclusions and ideas of the young participants to Brussels. Despite the tense atmosphere, the last day of the activity in Lviv was highlighted by the meeting between the Portuguese youth and the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Unfortunately, the peace was disrupted again a few hours later, as sirens sounded in Lviv. However, no attack occurred, and the young participants continued to engage in their discussions, undeterred by the ongoing conflict.
The event serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the youth, who continue to strive for peace and understanding despite challenging circumstances.
