Russian tennis player Aslan Karatsev, currently ranked 121 in the ATP, has made a remarkable comeback in the clay-court tournament in Madrid. After a series of impressive performances, he advanced to the quarterfinals, where he defeated Chinese player Zhang Zhize (99).

The match between Karatsev and Zhang Zhize lasted for one hour and 42 minutes, with Karatsev emerging victorious in two sets: 7:6 (7:3) and 6:4. This win marks a significant milestone for Karatsev, as he sets a personal record by advancing to the semifinals of a tournament of this caliber.

The game between Karatsev and the winner of the mentioned quarterfinal match will begin at 9:00 PM Moscow time. The location of the tournament is not specified, but it is worth noting that Russia had seven players participating, but all except Karatsev have already returned home.

In the semifinals, Karatsev will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between German Jan-Lennard Struff (65) and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (currently the fifth seed). Meanwhile, the defending champion of the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz (number two in ATP rankings), will play against Borna Coric (20) in the semifinals tomorrow.

Prior to his performances in Madrid, Aslan Karatsev's best career ranking was 14 in the ATP. With his recent success, he is expected to return to the top 100, gaining at least 70 positions in the rankings.

The final of the tournament will take place on May 7. While the game between Alcaraz and Coric will not directly involve Aslan Karatsev, his performance in Madrid has undoubtedly added an exciting element to the tournament.
