Russia's attack on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, draws severe criticism from Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry.
In a shocking turn of events, a significant airstrike was carried out in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine, causing widespread destruction and casualties. The attack, confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) to have been carried out by Russia, targeted more than 20 locations in the city.
The attack resulted in at least 23 deaths, including four children, and injured dozens of people. The information about the casualties and damages was reported by the BBC. Among the buildings affected by the airstrike were those hosting the EU Delegation (EUDEL) and the British Council, causing significant material damage.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of a country, led by Romanian Minister for Foreign Affairs Oana Țoiu, strongly condemned the airstrike, calling it a "blatant proof of Russia's total contempt for international efforts for peace." The statement extends condolences to the victims of the attack, their families, EUDEL staff, and the British Council.
Romania, along with leaders across Europe, has expressed solidarity with Ukraine and supports its struggle for independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The MAE reiterates the need to hold all perpetrators accountable for their actions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of choosing ballistics over negotiations, stating that Russia continues to kill instead of ending the war. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that the attacks add to a long list of war crimes committed by Russia against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
In response to the attack, the international community has condemned the actions of Russia. The airstrike in Kyiv is just the latest in a series of incidents that have raised concerns about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. As the situation continues to unfold, the world watches with hope for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
