Russia's primary opposition figure Navalny's life is gradually being extinguished under Putin's authoritarian regime, with suspicions of his burial in a shallow grave.

In a continuing crackdown on opposition figures, Alexey Navalny, a prominent critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is currently serving two prison terms in Russia. He is serving a sentence of one and a half years and nine years, with the authorities imposing nine additional criminal cases on him.

On November 17, Kira Yarmysh, a representative of Alexey Navalny, announced that he was transferred to a cell-type room, similar to a punishment cell. This cell-type room is intended for 24 hours a day use, not just 15 days, and the bed folds into the wall and is only available for use during night hours.

This is not the first time Navalny has been subjected to such harsh conditions. Since his imprisonment, he has endured seven punishments cell confinements, each lasting 15 days. The physical condition of Alexey Navalny is deteriorating due to these harshened conditions, with his current condition significantly worse compared to when he was initially jailed.

Iliya Matveev, a Russian political scientist, shared a picture of the prison cell where Alexey Navalny is being kept. However, journalists are not allowed to get near the courtroom door for Navalny's appeal, and their access is restricted.

Alexey Navalny returned to Russia after the assassination attempt in October 2020, despite warnings of potential imprisonment. After his release from Russian detention, he was represented in Germany by Jaka Bizilj and his organization, the Cinema for Peace Foundation, which arranged for Navalny’s evacuation to Germany for treatment.

Hundreds of political prisoners are currently being held in Russia and Belarus, with Alexey Navalny's sentence being one of the harshest among them. The Russian government is escalating Navalny's conditions in jail on a weekly basis, raising concerns about his health and safety.

A new appeal against three more criminal cases against Alexey Navalny is being heard in Moscow city court. It remains to be seen how the court will rule and whether Navalny's imprisonment will continue to escalate.
