In a rain-soaked Arthur Ashe Stadium, world number one Aryna Sabalenka secured her second US Open title with a hard-fought victory over home favourite Amanda Anisimova. The final score was 6:3, 7:6 (7:3).

Sabalenka, who has shown remarkable consistency this season, led 3:1 in the second set but Anisimova fought back, making the contest a nail-biter. However, Sabalenka held her nerve in the tiebreak and didn't let the win slip away.

The Belarusian's victory marks her as the first player since Angelique Kerber and Serena Williams in 2016 to reach three major finals in a year. Sabalenka has already claimed victories at the Australian Open and French Open this year, but fell short in the finals of both tournaments.

Anisimova, on the other hand, will rise to the top five in the world rankings on Monday after her impressive performance in the US Open. The American reached her second consecutive Grand Slam final, having lost to Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final earlier this year.

Despite the home crowd's support for Anisimova, Sabalenka was able to defeat her rival, avenging her loss to Anisimova in the Wimbledon semifinals. Anisimova's 29 unforced errors were costly in the final compared to Sabalenka's 15.

The US Open final was a power-packed duel, with both players showcasing their skills on the court. Anisimova put up a better fight against Sabalenka than she did against Swiatek, but ultimately came up short.

After the match, Anisimova was overcome with emotion and sat on her bench in tears. The loss was a tough pill to swallow for the American, who had hoped to claim her first Grand Slam title.

Rod Laver, a tennis legend, congratulated Sabalenka on Twitter, praising her impressive performance throughout the tournament. This is Sabalenka's fourth Grand Slam victory, and her second US Open title.

Meanwhile, Jessica Pegula, the player who reached a third major final in 2023 after Kerber and Williams, also made history this year. Pegula reached the singles final of the 2023 WTA Finals and made multiple Grand Slam quarterfinals that year.

Overall, the US Open final between Sabalenka and Anisimova was a thrilling contest that showcased the best of women's tennis. Sabalenka's victory marks her as one of the top players in the world, and she will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.
