GSD&M Mourns the Loss of Co-Founder Steve Gurasich

Steve Gurasich, a legendary figure and co-founder of the iconic Austin-based advertising agency GSD&M, passed away last week at the age of 73. Gurasich's death occurred months ahead of GSD&M's 50th anniversary this fall.

Marianne Malina, a marketing executive who worked for over two decades at GSD&M and most recently served as its president, shared her heartfelt tribute to Gurasich with Adweek. According to Malina, Steve was gracious, kind, and steady. He was always on her side, she stated, and described him as a "successful entrepreneur" who built both business and culture at GSD&M.

Gurasich's contributions to GSD&M were significant, as he played a key role in the agency's establishment and growth. GSD&M is part of Omnicom, one of the world's largest marketing and communications companies.

Despite the loss, GSD&M's operations continue. The agency, which has been a staple in Austin for five decades, remains committed to delivering top-notch advertising solutions to its clients.

Funeral and memorial services for Steve Gurasich were held earlier this week. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Amy, and son John.

Marianne Malina, in her capacity as a long-standing member of the GSD&M family, referred to Gurasich as a "legend." His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide the agency as it moves forward.
