Samsung and Pyxis Mobile collaborate to conquer business sector market
The tablet landscape is undergoing a period of rapid growth and development, with new players joining the fray and existing ones upping their game. One of the latest entrants to this dynamic market is Samsung's Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch device that is causing quite a stir.
Samsung's first foray into the tablet market, the Galaxy Tab is set to make its debut at the CTIA 2010. This device, considered a serious contender, particularly against the Apple iPad, boasts several features that set it apart. For instance, it offers full Flash support, twice the RAM capacity as the iPad, an integrated camera, and a lighter weight for increased portability. Its smaller size and lighter weight also make it comfortable to carry in coat pockets.
In an attempt to gain an edge in the competitive enterprise market, Samsung has partnered with Pyxis Mobile. This collaboration aims to utilise Pyxis Mobile's WYSIWYG mobile enterprise application development platform, App 7 Studio, to develop enterprise-specific apps for the Galaxy Tab. This strategic move could give the Galaxy Tab an advantage over the iPad, which, despite some enterprise apps, lacks a strong presence in this area.
The enterprise sector is not just Samsung's playing field. Traditional players like Research In Motion (RIM), Cisco, and Dell are also vying for a piece of the action. RIM has launched the PlayBook tablet, posing a challenge to the Galaxy Tab, while Cisco is planning to launch a tablet that could potentially compete with the Galaxy Tab in the enterprise market. Dell's official debut of a 7-inch tablet is imminent, adding to the competition.
The tablet market is becoming more diverse, with a variety of new products being introduced. The future of this market is uncertain, with the climax of the tablet wars yet to be reached. However, one thing is clear: the Galaxy Tab, with its potential to challenge the iPad's dominance in the tablet sector, is a force to be reckoned with.
In the enterprise tablet niche, the Galaxy Tab faces competition from the Apple iPad Pro, Lenovo's Tab series, Xiaomi's Redmi Pad Pro, and Honor's Pad series. Samsung specifically positions its Galaxy Tab S11 series against the iPad Pro as premium business tablets, while lower-priced alternatives from Xiaomi, Honor, and Lenovo compete in the more budget-friendly segment.
While the iPad has made inroads in the enterprise scene, its biggest stronghold remains in the consumer segment, contributing to its growth. As the tablet market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how the Galaxy Tab fares against its rivals and whether it can carve out a significant space for itself in the enterprise sector.
