Saudi Arabia and Japan have agreed on the necessity of discussions to address the Iran nuclear problem.

Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and Saudi Arabian counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a telephone conversation on Tuesday, as reported by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussion focused on various regional issues and the strengthening of bilateral relations.

During the conversation, Iwaya stressed the importance of respecting Syria's independence and sovereignty.
