New Minister of Finance in Schleswig-Holstein: Silke Schneider Takes Over from Monika Heinold

Monika Heinold, a veteran of Schleswig-Holstein politics with a 28-year career, is retiring from state politics. Her departure marks a significant change, as Silke Schneider, a fellow member of the Green Party, has been appointed as her successor as Minister of Finance.

Silke Schneider, 57 years old, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Before her appointment, she served as a judge at the Schleswig-Holstein Constitutional Court. Prior to that, she was President of the Regional Court of Lübeck and State Secretary in Schleswig-Holstein from 2014 to 2020.

Schneider has a background in law, having previously worked as a lawyer and judge. Her political career in Schleswig-Holstein began long ago, with a focus on climate-friendly energy projects and sustainable energy transition. Her involvement in HanseWerk Natur and her support for renewable energy projects, such as wood gas power plants, reflect this focus.

With Schneider's appointment as Minister of Finance, the Green Party will continue to hold a key position in Schleswig-Holstein politics. This is significant, as Schneider is the first Green Party member to hold this position.

Monika Heinold, the previous Minister of Finance, will be missed. Her dedication and service to Schleswig-Holstein politics have been evident for 28 years. As she steps down, the Green Party and the people of Schleswig-Holstein wish her a peaceful and prosperous retirement.

With Schneider's appointment, the Green Party and the people of Schleswig-Holstein look forward to a future of continued commitment to climate-friendly energy projects and sustainable energy transition.
