Job Announcement: Researcher in Bioethics and History in Global Health at the University of Oxford
The University of Oxford, home to the renowned Ethox Centre and the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities, is seeking to appoint a dedicated Researcher in Bioethics and History in Global Health. This fixed-term position will run until 31st March 2024.
The successful candidate will be based at Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health), Old Road Campus, Oxford. The role involves managing academic research and administrative activities, with a focus on collaborative research with colleagues in the History Faculty and the Oxford Pandemic Sciences Institute.
The project aims to reimagine both the ethics of history and the history of ethics through the lens of global health. It will explore disciplinary connections and contrasts at the interface between ethics and history, offering opportunities for cross-disciplinary scholarship. The project also provides the chance to present papers at conferences or public meetings.
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a PhD/DPhil in a bioethics or relevant discipline. Candidates should have relevant experience and sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline, as well as a proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
The salary for the position is competitive, with a range of £33,309 - £40,927 per annum. The role is full-time, although part-time consideration may be possible. The closing date for applications is 25th February 2022.
